Topic 3- Weekly Reflection

Here is my first attempt at screen casting! Here I show how to create a new Pinterest board or collage. I was able to add a few interactions with H5P.

This is a tool that I think would make for a fun and interactive for many different grades and subjects. For my specific subject being music, screen casting could be included in some sort of student project. Students could use it for demonstrating a recording platform or even presenting on a music history topic. This could allow for interactive H5P tools like multiple choice questions. I can also picture myself using these tools to make short pre-class videos introducing new musical genres, concepts or platforms. The multiple choice and true/false tools could even be used as a form of diagnostic, formative, or summative assessment, or even just a fun game.

For my music methods course last semester, we had to make a year plan and a unit plan and include various formative and summative assignments. For one of the formative assessments, I planned for students to create a reflection on the unit I made which was centred around Indigenous principles and identity. I think that screen casting with or without H5P could definitely be used as an option for this reflection for keen students looking for a creative way to show their knowledge and reflection. Of course the practicality of using this kind of technology would differ based on the age and capability of students as well as the resources available for students to use at school.
